About the Mama

And who is the woman behind the blog, you might ask. Well, it's me (that lady, right there up there). I'm a wife (to one) and mama (to two). And while a lot of my life is filled with the goodness those three bring, there is so much more going on! I also have the real pleasure of being an adult education teacher, where I work with students to earn their high school diploma (or equivalent) or gain new skills to help them in the workforce. Education is a true passion of mine, something I love to discuss, argue, and lament over. I'm also a consummate New Englander, having been born in Massachusetts and reared in Maine, and cannot imagine living anywhere else (though I can imagine visiting many, many other places and hope to someday).

If you are wondering what this blog is truly about, you're not alone - I sometimes wonder, too. I am young (26, if you're curious), and life is still on the fast track of its journey. Things happen quickly and all the while I am trying to find out who I am. This blog, the pieces already here and those to come, is the documentation of that journey, the one I take to discover what makes up this soul I carry and what I'm meant to do with it. (Deep enough? :-) )

And what's with the blog name? We live a cute little (1200 square foot) house settled in the big woods of Western Maine. I love our little home and our big woods and the world we've created for ourselves here. It's a comfort, it's peaceful, and it gives me the warm and fuzzies, kind of like a sweet childhood story of a little girl and her family snuggled in their own home in the woods. ;-)
